The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation works to help all people lead healthy, productive lives. In developing countries, it focuses on improving people’s health and giving them the chance to lift themselves out of hunger and extreme poverty.

In 2011, Beaumont submitted a proposal to develop technology for the Omni-Ingestor Program. The foundation instead contracted Beaumont to manage the entire Omni-Ingestor program. Thus began our third transformation, from a company primarily focused on medical devices to one focused on sanitation for the developing world.

Program Management

Starting in October 2011 Beaumont managed the Fecal Sludge Omni-Ingestor program on behalf of the foundation for four years. During that time we managed xxx vendors, refined the vison, identified tech,

  • Selected and managed strategic partners to perform market research, technical research and development, prototyping, and field-testing for equipment to improve sanitation in the developing world.

  •

Engineering

Beaumont's role in the program went far beyond program management. In addition to performing market research, marketing, and event management, we assisted the vendors working on the program with their engineering and even engineered software, electronics, and mechanical systems ourselves.

The P10, for example, started as an internal project that the foundation was enthusiastic about and subsequently funded.
